1.1 Account Information
When you create an account or log in, we collect:

- PIN (securely hashed, never stored in plain text)
- First and last name

You can also book as a guest without creating an account. In that case we collect the booking details described below but do not create a saved profile for you.
1.2 Passenger and Booking Details
When you book a ticket — for yourself or on behalf of other passengers — we collect:
- Passenger name(s) and phone number(s), and an emergency contact number
- Number of passengers, including any minors, and passenger type
- Selected trip, seat, pickup and drop-off points
- Travel date and trip or booking codes
- Luggage details, where applicable
1.3 Payment Information
To pay with Mobile Money, we collect your mobile money account name, account number, and network provider, and process a one-time authorization code (OTP) to confirm the transaction. Payments are processed through our payment provider and the relevant mobile money networks. We do not store your Mobile Money PIN or wallet password. If you have an account, you may save a default payment account for faster checkout.
1.4 Trip Tracking and Location
During an active trip, you can view the live location of your bus on a map. This location is provided by the bus and driver assigned to your trip. The Service does notcollect or track your own device's GPS location to provide this feature.
1.5 Device and Usage Data
We may collect basic device and browser information (such as device model, operating system or browser version, and unique identifiers) and information about how you interact with the Service — including searches, bookings, timestamps, and error logs — to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
1.6 Cookies
On the website, we use essential cookies to keep you signed in (for example, to store your authentication token) and to make the Service work. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and secure your account and verify your identity via OTP
- Search routes and show you available trips and fares
- Process your bookings and issue tickets and manifests
- Process Mobile Money payments and confirm transactions
- Show the live location of your bus during your trip
- Send booking confirmations, trip updates, and support messages by SMS or notification
- Provide customer support and respond to your enquiries
- Maintain accurate trip and booking records
- Improve app and website performance and fix technical issues

3. Information Sharing
We share your information only as needed to provide the Service:
- Bus operators and drivers on your trip receive the passenger manifest details (such as name, phone number, pickup and drop-off points, and emergency contact) needed to carry you safely
- Payment provider and mobile money networks, to process and confirm your payments
- Service providers (such as maps, SMS, and hosting partners) that help us operate the Service
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect safety
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Your authentication token is stored securely on your device or browser
- We use encrypted HTTPS connections for all data transmitted between the Service and our servers
- PINs are securely hashed and never stored or transmitted in plain text
- Your Mobile Money PIN or wallet credentials are never stored by us
- We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data against unauthorized access
5. Data Retention
- Booking and payment records are retained for operational, financial, and legal or tax purposes
- Account information is retained for as long as your account remains active
- If you request deletion of your account, your personal data will be deleted or anonymized within 90 days, except where retention is required by law
- Details provided for guest bookings are retained with the associated trip records

Oya! Bus Ride is intended for use by adults aged 18 and over. Children may travel as passengers when booked by an adult, but we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The Service uses the following third-party services:
- Mapping and tracking providers— for map display, live trip tracking, and route directions. Depending on your device, this may use Google Maps (subject to Google's Privacy Policy) or OpenStreetMap, CARTO, and OSRM map data
- Mobile money networks and our payment provider — for processing payments (subject to their respective privacy policies)
- SMS provider — for sending one-time codes and trip notifications
